LTA Youth Tennis Leaders Course - Fred Perry Community Tennis Trust - Teesside

LTA Youth Leaders Course - Funded by the Fred Perry Tennis Trust
Want to get into tennis coaching, develop new skills or help support your local venue? Our LTA Youth Tennis Leaders leadership programme for people aged 11 to 18, could be just for you.
It doesn’t matter if you already play tennis or not - the programme will help you improve your coaching ability as well as building key skills across many different areas in the game. LTA Youth Tennis Leaders is the first step on a leadership programme in tennis, sport and beyond.
What is an LTA Youth Tennis Leader?
As a leader, you’ll support coaches, volunteers and teachers to deliver coaching sessions, holiday clubs, after school clubs, competitions, open days, off-court activities and much more. You’ll never have to run a session by yourself, but you’ll get the chance to lead some activities and get some valuable experience in coaching.
You’ll become an integral part of your venue and act as role model for others – inspiring more people to play tennis.
What are the benefits of becoming an LTA Youth Tennis Leader?
Where to start! Above all else, the programme is a fun and rewarding way to develop skills that will help you both in tennis and off-court in your daily life.
What you will get from the programme:
- Experience to go on and complete LTA coaching qualification
- Support applications for jobs or further education opportunities
- Provide the first step towards a career in tennis or another sport
- Connect you to your local community and make new friends
- Give you valuable life skills that you can take into anything
LTA Youth Tennis Leaders can help set you up for a career in coaching, officiating or other volunteering opportunities in the future.
“I completed my Tennis Leaders course when I was 15 and was quickly asked to help at a school competition and also weekly coaching at my club. I loved the course, and it helped me a lot with my communication and organisation. I have now completed my level 1 course, building on the skills I learnt as a tennis leader. Having the opportunity to work with the coaching teams at my club has been brilliant!"
What are the benefits for young people?
The benefits are huge. Many tennis leaders have gone on to enjoy careers in tennis or sport and improved their life skills. Parents have fed back that their teenage children have grown in confidence, made friends, found their voice and discovered a love for teaching. As a coach, knowing you are supporting the development of young people is a commitment to be proud of.
Upon completion, they receive:
- A certificate for each module completed
- A workbook to refer back to.
If you’re aged 11-18 and interested in becoming a tennis leader read our information page for young people.
