Course Overview

Pre-Module Remote Sessions:

• Pre-Course Remote Session - Friday 22nd September - 09.30-12:30pm (3 hours)
• Pre Module 2 Remote Session - Friday 13th October - 09:30-11:30am (2 hours)
• Pre Module 3 Remote Session - Thursday 16th November - 09:30-11:30am (2 hours)
• Pre Module 4 Remote Session - Friday 15th December - 09:30-11:30am (2 hours)

Date Breakdown:

• Module 1           26-28 September
• Module 2           17-19 October
• Module 3           21-23 November
• Module 4           19-21 December

Aims and Outcomes:

• Coach beginners and improvers in groups and as individuals.
• Understand the basics of business management.
• Understand the competitive structure in the UK.
• Manage the work of level 1 and 2 coaching assistants.

Course Duration and Structure:

• 4 modules of 3 days plus a video based assessment.
• 9 hours coaching experience between each module. The LTA strongly recommends that a coach has appropriate insurance cover when undertaking supervised experienced hours that are a requirement of the course
• The course is 12 days broken down into 4 modules of 3 days plus a video-based assessment. The breaks between modules will be 4-6 weeks to allow coaches time to undertake 27 hours of coaching experience.
• The video-based assessment is booked separately via the LTA upon completion of the 12 day course.

Assessment:

• From January 2021, We Do Tennis no longer conducts assessments of candidates. They are handled externally by the LTA.
• On Day 12 of the course, coaches will complete a summative assessment under the watch of the course tutor
• Candidates are also expected to film an individual lesson using smartphone equipment and submit it to the LTA for review
• Once the core training has been completed and your Assessment been marked by our LTA Qualification Assessors you will be notified whether you have passed the course and or will require a reassessment.

Course Pre-requisites

• Hold the level 2 coaching assistant certificate/ECA/ETTC
• Be LTA Accredited  or hold a DBS/PVG Enhanced Check with Child Barred List certificate (Volunteer certificates cannot be accepted) applied for through LTA/Tennis Scotland. The certificate must be less than 12 months old from the start date of the course. A DBS can be accepted if you are on the Update Service. Please note that it may take at least eight weeks for a DBS to be processed and you must hold a valid LTA DBS certificate upon booking. 
• Have (or have had) a rating of 6.1 or better, have successfully completed the Coach Readiness Test or have previously completed a Play Test (at a minimum of Grade 1). 
• Hold a valid certificate of competence in either First Aid at Work (FAW), Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW), Paediatric First Aid or will have successfully completed the OFQUAL Level 3 in First Aid.

Payment Options

We recognise that the LTA Level 3 qualification is a significant financial commitment for coaches. As a result, we offer flexible payment options for those looking to book. Through our payment portal, you can choose to pay half of the course fee up front, with the rest paid later. Other Information

From January 2021, We Do Tennis will deliver days 1-12 and the LTA will conduct assessments, which will require a separate booking and payment process. Assessments can only be booked once the core training days have been completed. For more information regarding assessments, please view the LTA website here.

Late Submissions

Your course Tutor will set a deadline for all core training tasks to be completed. This will be agreed on day 1 of the course. Failure to complete all coursework will result in us having to appoint an assessor to mark your work. The cost to you for late submission is £75.
